About the Unit The Yara Pilbara Fertilisers' plant is one of the largest ammonia production sites in the world and we have also taken the ammonia process further downstream with the Yara Pilbara Nitrates Technical Ammonium Nitrate (TAN) plant, a joint venture with Orica. Together with ENGIE, Yara Pilbara will also build a renewable hydrogen plant to produce renewable ammonia.

Responsibilities Yara is seeking applications for their permanent role of Production Superintendent – YPN Operations. Reporting to the Yara Pilbara Production Manager, the Production Superintendent – YPN Operations is responsible for managing the YPN shift operations on a daily basis as well as the operations-maintenance-projects interface planning and execution through the shift superintendent, gatekeeping and shutdown/turnaround coordination functions.
The primary responsibilities include:
Lead and develop the YPN TAN Operations Department Manage execution of operational-maintenance-projects interface on daily basis Achieve operational and financial objectives in compliance with Yara safety, environment and quality standards Ensure competency development to support safe and reliable operations Lead plant operations in accordance with production plans, process trials, plant SU and SD on daily basis Set operational priorities and optimise resources to improve production efficiency Communicate operational-maintenance-project interface challenges to the maintenance superintendents, capital team project managers, and production manager Manage the preparation of the plant for maintenance activities (PTW isolation plans and execution) as per the weekly plan for maintenance Be a role model for the site employees and site contractors in achieving excellent performance with Health, Environment and Safety (e.g. Walk – Observe – Communicate) Aim to achieve excellence in site operations through effective collaboration with each department (production, maintenance, capital projects etc.) Lead improvement initiatives/projects at the YPN TAN Plant to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are executed and a continuous improvement culture is maintained. Lead and sustain the Yara Productivity System (YPS) in the YPN TAN Operations Department Assist the development and achieve the department budget as per the annual business planning process Follow up performance issues and the development of teams and individuals, ensuring employees' clear vision of Yara´s performance culture and values with respect to HESQ performance and Safe by Choice Chair monthly department meetings including department performance meetings, operations safety meetings, shift superintendent alignment meetings Chair weekly department meetings including KPI meetings, new ideas review meetings etc. Chair daily maintenance and production meetings Profile Required:
Process Plant Operator Certificate IV, Chemical Engineering Degree or equivalent Minimum of 10 years within a position in the Chemical/petrochemical industry, preferably in a Nitric Acid and/or Ammonium Nitrate Plant environment Understanding of the Supply Chain process Self-motivated, takes initiatives and excellent analytical skills Advanced Team Member participation and team player Competent usage of Excel Spreadsheets, Word Outlook, other Microsoft Office suites and SAP Knowledge of national and international standards Extensive knowledge of PTW systems Extensive Knowledge of Management of Change systems Basic understanding of Account Processing and IT systems Fluent English (verbal and written) is essential Australian/New Zealand citizenship or permanent residency.
