The Product Engineer, located at Deakin ManuFutures, will collaborate with faculty, researchers, and university leadership to provide advice on a variety of engineering-related matters, including research design, project management, curriculum development, and industry partnerships.
This role requires a good understanding of the engineering field, along with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a diverse range of stakeholders. ManuFutures' aim is to position Deakin University as a leader in the future of advanced manufacturing, with a particular focus on regional manufacturing. This will be achieved by bringing together relevant Deakin Faculties, Institutes, Centres, and industry in a collaborative network that will co-create and deliver strategies to address industry-and government-identified opportunities relating to advanced manufacturing.
As a Product Engineer, you will:Lead mechanical design & development activities on identified industry projects;Use engineering, planning and trades expertise to perform mechanical component identification, configuration, assembly and other necessary activities;Establish vendor relationships and maintain records that facilitate access to information regarding emerging components and technologies;Prepare and deliver visual reports that demonstrate engineering solutions and designs to the broader team and clients;Support the Consultant, Engineering Services and other members of the ManuFutures team with specialist knowledge and document preparation for business development activities.To be successful, you'll have:An equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.Experience working in a related field or discipline in higher education or a similar large complex environment.Good knowledge of OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) principles and an understanding of the requirements for safety when working with biological and chemical hazards.Working with Children's Check (Employee) or willing to obtain.Here's how to apply:Please submit your updated resume and a short cover letter outlining your skills and experience.
