We're a young company and you'll be joining a small and growing team to look after procurement and business operations as we commence the construction of our full-scale autonomous vertical farms.Working alongside other team members, you'll be responsible for identifying and managing domestic and international supplier relationships in order to procure all the individual components required to assemble and build our farms. You'll be running a procurement project and be responsible for manufacturing lead-times, storage and logistics to ensure that components are available when required by our build team.As a hands-on practical and inquisitive individual, you'll be working with the industry to identify the best source of components and systems, managing the manufacturing of custom components, and ensuring the quality and quantity of components meet our (your!) high standards. You'll be working with our engineering designers to put together and take ownership of accurate BOMs in an iterative approach to work through supply chain availability issues. In summary, our procurement manager will be responsible for ensuring that the right bolts in the right quantities are available at the right time to be used by the installation team so there is no interruption to the timely construction of our farms.Typical weekly tasks include:Working with engineering designers to identify the availability of components and if substitutions can be madeResearching and engaging with new suppliers to identify novel components to solve specific problems in more efficient waysSecuring favourable terms and prices with existing suppliersNegotiating design changes and reviews of custom components with suppliers and ensuring configuration change requests are documented and managedManaging the procurement project for our future farm builds, updating delivery time expectations and resolving the impact within the broader construction projectManaging logistics and storage of componentsExperience in working in small teams to achieve big goalsDemonstrable practical experience in setting up systems and operational workflows using online toolsA nerdy interest in keeping things organised - virtually and physicallyIt would be extra awesome if you also had…Previous experience working in a farm or in the broader food industryHigher education in a related field (e.g. project management, systems engineering, business)Skills developing online reporting and process automation workflowsYou are…Passionate about the future of food and our environment and keen to make a change in the worldDisciplined and a self-starter with good time managementPositive and eager to roll up your sleevesInquisitive and have good attention to detailAble to juggle simultaneously conflicting prioritiesAs Phyllome expands to build larger and more farms, there is the opportunity for a successful and driven procurement officer to build and lead a team in procurement. Separately, as procurement crosses over into many different areas of Phyllome operations, engineering, and project management, there will be opportunities to evolve into these future positions as the company grows. Future roles in project management, operations leadership, and design engineering will become available as the company grows.Maybe this role is not for you if…You're not comfortable getting your "hands dirty" (literally in this case)You prefer to work in big teams with lots of corporate supportYou avoid conflict and are not comfortable calling people to resolve issues
