The role
As a Principal Project Officer in the Policy and Planning stream of Queensland Health's Disaster Management Branch, you will play a pivotal role in providing expert advice on emergency incident management policy, planning, and education to senior management, divisions, and Hospital and Health Services. This role is responsible for leading and supporting disaster management projects within Queensland Health, ensuring compliance with defined service quality standards and health and safety policies. The role requires strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders. Additionally, it monitors and reviews systems to identify opportunities for improvement, aligning these enhancements with the goals of the Disaster Management Branch (DMB).
Key responsibilities include the development and implementation of strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of health disaster management, as well as the preparation of detailed reports, briefs, and submissions to aid senior leadership in strategic decision-making. The role will also participate in activations within the State Health Emergency Coordination Centre (SHECC) and ensure adherence to Queensland Health's core values, human resource policies, and project management methodologies, contributing to organisational learning and capability development in disaster management.

high-level knowledge of the disaster management arrangements to ensure high quality service delivery and promote awareness and understanding. a strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing tasks effectively to meet deadlines and deliver results. advanced interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to consult and negotiate with diverse stakeholders to develop cooperative solutions and implement strategic responses. experience in disaster management planning and projects will be highly regarded. Additionally, you will have experience handling sensitive information with discretion, as well as demonstrated critical thinking, conceptual, and analytical abilities. Your innovative approach will enable you to create and apply adaptable solutions to resolve complex issues effectively.
