As a Principal Policy Officer you will:
• Provide analysis and advice to support the development of policies and legislation impacting on local government in Queensland.
• Contribute to and lead policy and legislative projects both as a team leader and working individually.
• Provide evidence-based advice and options to the Manager, Director, Deputy Director-General, Director-General and Minister on complex policy and legislative issues relevant to the local government sector.
• Apply knowledge of policy and legislative issues to contribute to or develop consultative, timely and well-researched briefings, submissions, reports, and correspondence.
• Contribute to or deliver professional and authoritative advice to colleagues and senior management to inform strategy, direction and generation of policy and program solutions to complex problems.
• Build and maintain cohesive and functional relationships across the Local Government Division to deliver shared objectives of the Division and promote a "one LGD" environment.
• Develop and maintain networks and consult across Queensland Government, other jurisdictions and with key stakeholders to support the delivery of the department's strategic agenda.
• Represent the Department's interests in forums for policy and legislative issues.
• Exemplify and contribute to a positive, productive and professional team culture as a team member, sharing knowledge and information and working both collaboratively with colleagues and autonomously.
• Show leadership within the Strategy and Service Delivery branch by championing departmental priorities and committing to continuous improvement and cross-agency collaboration.
