About the Team & the Position The Digital Division enables the delivery of AEMO's obligations through technology and improves outcomes for both internal and external stakeholders.
Digital provides services to internal AEMO business units, employees, contractors, subsidiaries such as AEMO Services, external government bodies and market participants.
As a member of the Platform Services Team within Cloud, Platforms, Infrastructure & Networks (CPIN), this role requires innovative thought leadership to guide decision making on new technologies and investments in AEMO infrastructure.
It also needs to bring a high level of expertise and is responsible for providing strategic guidance on complex BAU and projects issues.
This on-prem and cloud IaaS infrastructure is critical to AEMO delivering highly available services to participants and is essential to ensuring the security of the Energy markets and systems.
The challenge is to balance the operational availability demands and deploying projects for new services in an environment that is undergoing rapid industry change.
Including rapidly expanding our service offering to move from traditional energy resources to distributed managed renewable resources.
Position Responsibilities Mentor team members on complex issues to deliver the required services across BAU Operations on a 24x7 basis.
Provides technical leadership for the platform team to integrate new technologies, products, and equipment without impacting highly available systems whilst also ensuring alignment to AEMO's IT strategy and architecture roadmaps.
Ensure that IT Platform systems and infrastructure are monitored and secured against internal and external threats, including risk management and information security.
(E.g., Patching and upgrades) Integrate new technologies and equipment without impacting highly available systems, aligned to AEMO's IT strategy and architecture roadmaps.
Maintain and extend in-depth technical knowledge across a broad range of technologies, including Server and security frameworks and best practices, storage and backup technologies and server hardware suppliers.
Adhere to IT policies, standards, and enforce processes within Platform Technology Team and wider IT (where applicable).
Required to be on the On-call roster 24*7 support to respond to incidents after hours (Rotation 1 in 8 weeks) Document and follow processes, procedures and standards ensuring compliance with market audits.
Position Requirements Skills & Experience: Solid experience in Server, Storage and Data Protection technologies.
E.g.
Dell, Pure, Cohesity Proven experience in data centre infrastructure technology environments.
At least five years in depth experience of Cloud technologies, Security and Internet technologies.
Strong experience in a Multi-cloud environment.
Good experience in Infrastructure As Code deployments, such as DevOps, Ansible.
Knowledge in containerisation, AKS, OpenShift Knowledge of and adherence to ITIL change management and quality assurance systems Excellent collaboration & stakeholder management skills.
Education/ professional Certifications: Degree qualifications in Computing and IT, Communications/Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
Recognised professional certification in VMware, Microsoft and server and storage hardware technologies.
