The Department of Housing, Local Government, Planning and Public Works is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Planning Officer in its Cairns office. This permanent position is an opportunity to provide plan making and development assessment services to the Far North Queensland region, on behalf of the Queensland Government. As a Principal Planner, you will play a pivotal role in delivering customer-focused, high-quality planning and development outcomes for both current and future Queensland communities. Your responsibilities will include providing technical expertise, implementing planning and development best practices, and contributing to regional development through statutory and strategic land use planning services.Key Responsibilities: Principal Planner in the Planning and Development team in the Cairns office achieving outstanding outcomes for Queensland communities.Contribute technical expertise and planning best practices to enhance the quality of services provided to the regions we serve.Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure effective implementation of statutory and strategic land use planning services.Foster a customer-focused approach to planning and development, ensuring the needs of communities are met.Join us in the Queensland public sector and make a meaningful impact on the future of Queenslanders.
