Led by the Chief First Nations Officer, the First Nations Health Office co-designs, leads and advocates for a culturally safe, equitable and responsive health system to support First Nations peoples and communities to reach their full health potential and live long and healthy lives.
The First Nations Workforce Branch is responsible for developing, supporting, and growing Queensland Health's First Nations workforces across all streams, with an emphasis on the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce as defined by the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workforce (Queensland Health) Certified Agreement (No.2) 2023.
The role
The purpose of the role is to provide advice on issues related to the sustainable development and growth of the First Nations health workforce to enable the delivery of culturally safe health care to First Nations' communities.
Your key responsibilities: Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services, and workplaces. Provide high quality, expert, professional, strategic, and timely advice on issues related to the First Nations health workforce to the Minister for Health, Director-General, and Senior Executives and the Hospital and Health Services. Undertake projects to monitor the First Nations health workforce and measure the impact of workforce reforms. Contribute to the development and implementation of sustainable workforce reform and strategies. Engage with key internal and external stakeholders such as professional and industrial organisations, health academics and educators, private health service providers. Engage across jurisdictions and with other key government and non-government stakeholders on issues of policy, standards and workforce strategy that impact on the First Nations health workforce. Maintain knowledge of current and emerging developments in First Nations health at the local, state, and national levels and First Nations health internationally. Who are you?
