About the role At a time when Australia is witnessing a once in a century transformation of the Energy industry, AEMO's National Electricity Market (NEM) Real Time Operations (RTO) team has an exciting opportunity as a Power System Operations Controller at our Norwest and Brisbane offices.
What you will be doing Reporting to the Manager NEM RTO, you will play a critical role in maintaining a secure and reliable power system.
You will carry out real time operational control of the NEM and Interconnected National Electricity System, identifying risks and acting when necessary.
Other duties include: Work as part of a team as required by the 24/7 shift roster.
Perform the real time Dispatch, Voltage and Security functions for the designated regions of responsibility in accordance with established procedures and standards.
Undertake Real Time monitoring, analysis and control of the Interconnected National Electricity System to identify issues / violations.
Perform complex computer-based network analysis to determine solutions and act when necessary.
Take decisive and timely action following a contingency to ensure the power system remains in a satisfactory operating state and is promptly returned to a secure and reliable operating state.
What you will bring to the role Relevant tertiary qualifications (preferably in Electrical Engineering) or equivalent relevant work experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and maintain a high degree of organisation, coordination and communication with attention to detail and accuracy.
Excellent interpretative and problem-solving skills, with an ability to make timely decisions to resolve complex technical issues based on a balance of analysis, wisdom, experience and practical judgement, with and without precedents.
Demonstrated ability to communicate in a clear, accurate and concise manner, both verbally and in written form.
