Our client, a top-tier alternatives fund manager, is seeking an experienced ESG Manager to take a central role in integrating ESG considerations across their portfolio. This Sydney-based opportunity will allow you to make a tangible impact, working with investment teams to drive sustainability through rigorous ESG analysis.About the RoleAs the ESG Manager, you will lead due diligence efforts, conducting in-depth ESG assessments for both new investments and the current portfolio. This role will see you working at the intersection of sustainability and finance, ensuring that ESG risks and opportunities are strategically managed and optimised throughout the investment lifecycle. Your expertise will be vital to the company's commitment to creating long-term value for investors, communities, and the environment.Key ResponsibilitiesESG Due Diligence: Conduct thorough ESG evaluations for potential investments, assessing environmental, social, and governance risks to ensure all acquisitions align with the company's sustainability goals.Portfolio ESG Monitoring: Oversee and analyse the ESG performance of existing portfolio companies, identifying areas for improvement and actionable insights to enhance impact.Risk Management: Develop strategies to mitigate ESG-related risks across the portfolio, focusing on areas such as climate impact, social governance, and regulatory compliance.Collaboration with Investment Teams: Work closely with investment professionals, embedding ESG insights into decision-making processes and enhancing the portfolio's long-term resilience.Reporting and Stakeholder Engagement: Prepare ESG due diligence reports for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring transparent, high-quality communication of findings and recommendations.Ideal CandidateA degree in finance, environmental science, business, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.Minimum 5 years of experience in ESG, sustainability, or responsible investment, ideally in consulting, financial services or investment management.Strong understanding of ESG frameworks (such as TCFD and UN PRI) with proven due diligence and risk assessment experience.Exceptional analytical and reporting skills, with a keen ability to turn ESG data into actionable insights.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders effectively.Passionate about sustainability and committed to high standards of responsible investing.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply.
