Utilise your policy and development expertise to provide support and advice to the  Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs branchOngoing, Flexible opportunity to work with a high-performing and passionate team in the Victorian Public ServiceAbout Us: Ministerial Services, Policy Reform and Programs (MSPRP) comprises several business units, including: Ministerial Services and Coordination, Policy Reform and Programs and Redress Design. These business units are responsible for providing critical departmental and Ministerial coordination support and delivering essential family violence programs and crime prevention grants. MSPRP is responsible for delivery of priority justice policy reforms in line with departmental and Ministerial priorities. It also leads on crime prevention, family violence and the public intoxication reforms. MSPRP teams work in a dynamic environment, requiring agile policy teams to respond to key priorities as they arise.
The Violence Prevention Safety and Policy Team works in collaboration across the department and with other areas of government to drive and support ongoing family and sexual violence reforms to continue to improve women's safety.
About the Role: As the Policy Officer, you will work closely with the Manager and other team members to assist with the development and progression of sound policy and strategic advice to senior department executives on priority justice policy issues.
You will work with the Manager and Senior Policy Officers in the team to contribute to a range of project specific work. This may include briefing products, development of budget bids and secretariat support.
Some of your duties will include:
Undertaking research and analysis on complex issues and assist in the development of policy and implementation advice to relevant Ministers and Departmental Executives on a wide variety of issues relating to priority justice policy. Contributing expertise to a team working on complex projects with some guidance and direction, to ensure development of considered policy advice and delivery of project objectives.With some guidance and direction, leading project delivery of key policy initiatives including recognising potential barriers and developing options to deal with them. About You: As an ideal candidate, you will possess:
Strong conceptual and analytical skills. Ability to analyse complex policy and legal issues, interpret legislation and provide accurate and strategic advice.Experience supporting consultation to inform the development of policy development and accurate strategic advice. Sound knowledge of Cabinet and Parliamentary processes.Qualifications: A tertiary qualification in a related discipline would be highly desirable.How to Apply: Please click the Apply button on this advertisement.
