About Us
Dietitians Australia is the peak industry body for dietetic and nutrition professionals, representing over 9000 members in Australia and overseas. Our mission is to champion the professional nutrition and dietetic workforce to empower people and communities.
Role Purpose
As the Policy Officer, you will support the General Manager Advocacy and Policy in developing policy and advocacy initiatives. You will collaborate with other DA staff and members to influence government agencies and stakeholders, ensuring that our voice in nutrition and dietetics is heard and impactful.
Key Responsibilities

Represents the Association in consultations and meetings to advocate on behalf of the DA and its members.
Develops and maintains relationships with external stakeholders and DA members across diverse areas related to nutrition and dietetic practice.
Undertakes research, analysis and synthesis of information to inform decision making and preparation of reports.
Prepares reports, submissions and presentations based on research and member feedback and aligned with policy directions.
Provides a range of project management and support services, including preparation of discussion papers, briefs and submissions, and grant funding proposals.
Communicates with external stakeholders and DA members about policy and advocacy activities.
Participates in DA committees and working parties and provides support to committees and working parties as required.
Promotes and maintains a safe and secure work environment by adherence to WH&S principles.

Our Ideal Candidate
We are looking for a dynamic individual with a strong understanding of the Australian health care system. The ideal candidate will also have:

Knowledge of the Australian health care system, particularly in areas such as disability, aged care, mental health and early childhood.
Knowledge of food supply systems, nutrition regulatory and funding mechanisms, and policy implications for nutrition and dietetics.
Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, submissions, and presentations for various stakeholders.
Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
Experience in working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to organise work to meet deadlines and standards.
