Policy and Ministerial Support Officer Fixed term role: (to 31 December 2024)Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)Usual work location: 121 Exhibition, Melbourne (flexibility may be available)The Role DJSIR is seeking to appoint a Policy and Ministerial Support Officer to assist in the provision of timely and quality policy advice and Ministerial support, working across the Tourism and Events Strategy and Reform unit and the broader Tourism and Events branch.
The responsibilities of the Policy and Ministerial Support Officer will include, but are not limited to:
Assist in the delivery of Tourism Portfolio support function including the research and preparation of Ministerial correspondence and briefings.Provide research and policy advice on numerous visitor economy issues across the division.Actively participate in the development of policies and strategies that are the responsibility of the Tourism Events Strategy and Reform unit. The Team The position of Policy and Ministerial Support Officer forms a part of the Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) group.
SRV aims to create greater sport and active recreation participation opportunities for all Victorians in order to maximise economic, social and health benefits and enhance Victoria's liveability.
This is achieved by supporting the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events and the Minister for Community Sport in the management of major sports facilities, administering grant programs that develop community facilities, strengthening the capacity of sport and recreation organisations, developing more active recreation and other innovative options to increase overall participation rates, reducing barriers to participation for specific population groups, supporting world-class sporting events and Victoria's high performance sport sector, and reinforcing the role that sport and active recreation plays in growing the Victorian economy, supporting jobs and building stronger communities.
The Tourism and Events branch is responsible for strengthening the profile of tourism and events across government and influencing strategic reforms and economic outcomes for the sector.
About You The successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience (see PD):
