The Cauldron R&D facility in Orange is currently undergoing a significant period of change. The Plant Manager is a critical front-line leadership role that is accountable for establishing and embedding good manufacturing practices.
The Plant Manager is responsible for the safe and reliable operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Cauldron's R&D facility in Orange, NSW. With a focus on operational excellence, the successful candidate will lead the facilities team and work closely with the on-site science teams to ensure all laboratory, fermentation, and utility systems are running optimally, meeting all safety, governance, and regulatory standards. This role will also play a crucial part in fostering a high-performing, collaborative culture on-site, aligned with Cauldron's values.
Key Accountabilities:Execute the agreed Orange site business plan.Accountable for compliance to internal standards, regulatory commitments, quality requirements and legislation (Note: Named role in the HACCP, GMP and OGTR licenses).Operational Training and Compliance.Key Responsibilities:Facilities Leadership and Operations:Oversee maintenance strategy and execution, including asset management, equipment care, and maintenance reporting.Ensure optimal plant and lab performance, meeting regulatory standards, and supporting fermentation projects.Manage day-to-day site operations in alignment with business needs.Safety, Governance, and Risk Management:Lead incident management, regulatory compliance, and safety audits.Ensure WHS and PC2 lab standards, closing out all action items from audits and incidents.Project & Team Management:Drive improvement initiatives, and mentor the facilities team.Manage the facilities budget, vendors, and contractor relationships.Key Requirements – Preferred but Not Essential:Experience: 5+ years in facilities/asset management, ideally in biotech, food, or regulated industries.Common Sense in spades.Leadership & Communication: Strong leadership and collaboration skills, able to work across departments and with remote teams.Technical & Project Management: Expertise in safety, maintenance, production, compliance, and project management, including budgeting and scheduling.Problem Solving & Values: Proactive in troubleshooting and continuous improvement, aligned with Cauldron's culture of safety, inclusivity, and collaboration.What We Offer:A permanent role with a competitive salary that recognises your trade skills and site management experience.The chance to join a pioneering biotechnology company, making a real impact on global challenges while growing your career in a fast-evolving industry.Location: Based at Cauldron's R&D facility on a scenic property near Orange, NSW.
