THE ROLE The Planning Officers are responsible for supporting Homes Victoria delivery teams, and Community Housing Providers, to achieve planning approvals for social and affordable housing projects, through a strong knowledge of the statutory planning system, excellent stakeholder engagement skills and a creative and solutions-oriented approach to planning and design issues.
The role will advise on site feasibility and master planning; assess planning aspects of housing funding applications; assist development teams prepare and consult on applications for new developments. The position will work collaboratively with a range of planning and design teams within Homes Victoria, provide advice to Community Housing Providers and engage with the councils and the Department of Transport and Planning.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE Provide high quality statutory planning advice and support on social and affordable housing development throughout the life cycle of projects. Work with senior and coordinating officers to prepare and lodge applications including preparing planning reports that integrate specialist advice. Provide clear verbal and written advice to Community Housing Providers on planning approval pathways for social and affordable housing, through assessment of the planning provisions and coordination with DTP and local councils.
