The Planning Officer will coordinate input into statutory planning applications and other statutory matters.
Working in a small, dedicated team, this position requires basic skills and experience in statutory planning, biodiversity assessment, and environmental regulation, including the native vegetation removal regulations.
The role ensures biodiversity and Crown land assets are recognised, considered, and assessed in accordance with applicable legislation where DEECA is a statutory referral authority.
The incumbent will need to understand and be able to apply and interpret applicable legislation, which includes but is not limited to:
Planning and Environment Act 1987Subdivision Act 1988Water Act 1989The role requires collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across DEECA including technical experts on biodiversity matters and the ability to foster and maintain relationships with key partners across DEECA and other government stakeholders.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications Relevant tertiary qualifications such as land use planning or environmental science preferred.Knowledge and experience in the application of Victoria's planning system and environmental regulation framework is desirable.This is an ongoing position. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
