We put the customer and our community at the centre of all that we do, ensuring our services are efficient and accessible.The role involves providing high-level office administration to support the Planning & Development Department, ensuring its functions and responsibilities are delivered accurately, efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with Council policies, procedures, and relevant legislation, while also delivering excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.What you'll be doing:Ensure that all Departmental administrative tasks are undertaken in a professional and timely manner.Processing of applications, lodgments, referrals, advertisement and permit documentation, archive and file maintenance, data processing and mail, notices, orders, infringements, debtors, and invoicing.Providing word and data processing support to the Planning & Development Department.Compile and process reports, submissions and other documents prepared by officers to customers, residents, ratepayers, and stakeholders including statutory authorities and Council's other operational areas.Provide customer service, administrative support, and information to internal and external customers of the Planning & Development Department.Ensure that personal work plans, objectives and priorities are prepared and maintained to ensure personal workloads, timelines, and rosters are managed and achieved.Ensure compliance with the relevant quality systems and policies of the Council.The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:Understanding of the functions, policies and procedures associated with the statutory planning and/or building control industry.Well-developed knowledge of the various aspects and requirements of the Building and Development Approvals System in Victoria from a customer service and administrative perspective.The occupant is required to regularly liaise with internal and external customers.Ability to empathise with and respond to the needs and feelings of colleagues and customers in a constructive and positive manner.Ability to identify customer needs and expectations, decide the appropriate action and respond accordingly.Ability to gain co-operation and communicate both verbally and in written form with a broad range of people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.Highly developed interpersonal and communications skills.Why Hume City Council?A leader in local government, we're committed to creating an inclusive and collaborative work environment that is guided by our values:We're better, every day: We give things a go and value progress over perfection.
