About the role
SACA is looking for an experienced Performance Psychologist to join our Cricket team. The Performance Psychologist will lead the development and delivery of best practice performance psychology and mental health services to SACA's high performance and pathway players. They will work as part of an interdisciplinary team in the delivery of services.
Key responsibilities: Team Leadership: Create a psychologically safe environment for all team members.Provide mental health and performance guidance to both players and staff.Collaborate with the Sports Science and Sports Medicine (SSSM) Manager and Head Coaches to support players and coaches during training sessions, workshops, match days, and meetings.Partner with the SACA High Performance Team to design and implement a comprehensive strategy for performance and wellbeing.Individual Player Support: Drive the player development strategy within our teams.Lead the initiative for a top-tier Mental Health Management and Performance Psychology Program.Work closely with both male and female programs to ensure holistic care for our athletes.Facilitate player reflection to foster a learning environment that promotes growth.Training and Education: Create and deliver educational materials to improve mental health and performance psychology understanding among players and staff within the cricket department.Leadership of Player Development: Oversee Player Development Managers, building a strong partnership to effectively address players' mental health and wellbeing.Collaborate with PDMs to provide ongoing mental health education for both senior and pathway teams.You will hold a valid Working with Children Check or have the ability to obtain one.Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree and Honours Degree in PsychologyCurrent general registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA.Eligibility for full membership with the Australian Psychological SocietyCurrent and valid SA WWCC and police checkSkills, Abilities, and Experience Essential Knowledgeable of Cricket and/or high-performance sporting environmentsMinimum 3 years' experience providing performance psychology and/or mental health services within high performance environments.Thorough understanding of sports culture and the ability to display sound judgment in high performance environmentsInnovative thinker with strong conceptual and problem-solving skills.Profound listening and planning skills.Passionate about enhancing the self-efficacy of athletes, coaches and staff in high performance sporting environmentsResilience and energy to operate in a challenging working environment.Proven ability to operate with professionalism and integrity.Advanced relationship building and stakeholder management skills.High-level interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.Exceptional planning, coordination, and organisational skills.Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.Highly Desirable Leadership in areas such as program development and management, research, and development of service initiativesAbout SACA The SACA is one of the nation's premier sporting bodies, with a vision for cricket to be Australia's favorite sport - a sport for all Australians.
