My client, a non for profit organization, based in the CBD is looking to onboard a payroll officer for 12 - 18 months as they transition to a new software. You will work in a team of 5, reporting to the payroll manager.
Responsibilities: Responsible for managing the delivery of payroll services on a regular basis, including checking variances, reconciling bank transactions, and distributing post-payroll reports. Processing superannuation payments for employees, handling a large volume of tasks such as onboarding new hires, processing terminations, managing timesheets, leave forms, and other payroll-related changes. Overseeing PAYG payments and bank debit recoveries, while maintaining accurate digital employee records and ensuring the payroll system is updated and aligned with the general ledger. End-of-month responsibilities include preparing and distributing HR and payroll reports to relevant stakeholders and reconciling employee entitlements such as annual leave and long service leave. Preparing end-of-year financial reconciliations and reports in compliance with organizational policies, audit requirements, and tax regulations. Supporting the maintenance of remuneration data to ensure payroll complies with awards and agreements, and managing payroll-related queries from various internal and external stakeholders. Documenting key payroll processes and assisting with ongoing improvement projects, including user acceptance testing for internal initiatives. Requirements: A minimum of 5+ years of comprehensive payroll experience. Strong knowledge of legislative and award compliance, with the ability to interpret relevant laws and regulations. Solid understanding of salary packaging and payroll-related employment legislation. Experience working in multi-company, complex, and fast-paced environments. Proficiency in handling more than one payroll system. Proven ability to manage high volumes of tasks efficiently, including onboarding, terminations, timesheet processing, leave forms, and payroll variations.
