Reporting into the Payroll Manager, the Payroll Officer will work as part of a collaborative team to ensure the fortnightly payroll processing and reporting requirements are met in an accurate, timely manner and in line with the Firm policies, procedures, award and legal requirements.
Key Responsibilities Process the fortnightly payroll as part of a teamAble to interpret the Legal Services Award (LSA)Process staff movements including new starters, departures and other payroll changesProcess bonuses and salary sacrifice requests, ensuring payments and deductions have been made in line with ATO calculation methodsWorking understanding of termination calculationsUnderstanding of leave accrualsUnderstanding Long Service Leave and the different rules that apply to each State and/or TerritoryEnsure payroll processes and procedures are documented and regularly reviewed to ensure relevancePreparing manual payments when requiredRespond to payroll questions from employees or assist with finding answers to the employees' queries – either face to face, by telephone or by emailSkills & Experience To be considered for this role you will have:
2 - 3 years prior experience in a similar payroll position in a medium to large organisationA working understanding of payroll software - Workday and iChris / Chris21 (preferred)Demonstrated the ability to meet demanding deadlinesThe ability to work effectively as part of a team, with a willingness to share knowledge and collaborate to achieve objectives.Intermediate proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and ExcelWell-developed verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail and a willingness to take on any taskPositive mindset with flexibility and resilience to meet business objectives
