The Pastoral Services team ensures our clients' pastoral and spiritual needs are met with compassion and empathy irrespective of the resident's religious beliefs or faith. Our Pastoral Care service is unique for every client, with their individual spiritual and pastoral requirements identified in an initial personalised assessment. As a Pastoral Associate, you will be sensitive to specific cultural and spiritual needs and be guided by the client's choices.What are the key responsibilities?Providing emotional, spiritual and pastoral support to residents through regular visits irrespective of a resident's religious beliefs or world viewCollaborating with all staff in the provision of holistic careParticipating in and organise if required, ecumenical services, memorial services and other relevant ceremonies as the need arisesConsulting with and supporting residents, families, relatives and/or representatives in times of specific needEnsuring Spiritual/Pastoral planning, assessment, documentation and reporting is completed to a high standardWhat will you bring to the role?Certificate or Diploma from an accredited Pastoral Care Academy (desirable)Previous experience working in a similar spiritual and pastoral care roleStrong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating empathy and compassion with vulnerable and elderly peopleAbility to maintain documentation accurately and appropriatelyWho is Southern Cross Care Queensland?Southern Cross Care Queensland (SCCQ) is a Catholic not-for-profit organisation established by the Knights of the Southern Cross, more than 40 years ago.
