Seeking a passionate conservation Project Officer to support the delivery of restoration projects of important wetlands in Northern Victoria.
Build your ecological and land management expertiseInvolves fieldwork and contact with field specialistsSupport protection of cultural heritageAbout the role As the Project Officer, you will support the delivery of projects in Northern Victoria focusing on the Gunbower National Park and Kerang Wetlands. The Ramsar wetlands are home to critically endangered species such as the Australasian Bittern. Parks Victoria are working with conservation organisations such as the North Central Catchment Management Authority to implement actions that deliver measurable habitat improvements.
The role is responsible for the delivery of land management activities with the objective to address threats to habitat quality. This includes pest animal control (particularly rabbits), weed control, and revegetation to achieve measurable gains in Parks Victoria reserves.
The position contributes to engagement with key partners including state agencies and indigenous groups as well as participating in the planning and development of conservation approaches. The role will include supporting cultural heritage protection activities and traditional owner engagement.
