Lucas Primary School is a new primary school situated in the suburb of Lucas, west of Ballarat's central business district. The school opened in 2020 and has a current enrolment of 496 students. The school has been master planned to allow for future growth in a developing area of the city. Currently there are 22 classes, four preps, eight Year 1/2s, six Year 3/4s and four Year 5/6s. The school features state of the art facilities including two learning community buildings, a Performing Arts and Physical Education facility, a Specialist Pavilion for Visual Arts and STEM and an administration building. Our vision is to empower all students to achieve their best, promoting high quality learning and teaching and excellence in all areas. We provide an engaging and challenging curriculum that caters for the needs of all learners within a positive, inclusive and supportive learning community. Our aim is for all students to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes to achieve success in learning and life. We value and promote strong home-school partnerships and connections with the wider community. All practices reflect the school's values of respect, responsibility, excellence and growth. A comprehensive curriculum is offered throughout the school based on the Victorian Curriculum with a strong focus on the core areas of literacy and numeracy. The school's Instructional Model provides the framework for high quality, consistent practice in all classrooms, incorporating evidence based high impact teaching strategies. Clear learning intentions and success criteria are developed for all lessons, with explicit teaching provided at students' point of need. Data is collected and used to provide a differentiated program ensuring challenge and support for all learners. Students in all year levels have reading, writing, numeracy and personal/social goals they are continually working towards to maximise their learning growth. Feedback and reflection are important elements of all lessons. A highly engaging specialist program is offered in Visual Arts, Physical Education, Performing Arts and Japanese.
The Lucas LEAP (Learning Enrichment and Activity Program) was established in 2024 to meet the increasing outside school hours care needs of Lucas Primary School families. The program operates out of the school's gymnasium/performing arts centre and utilises the extensive outdoor grounds and equipment onsite. Our passionate educators work collaboratively to develop an engaging program to meet the daily needs of the students. While the program can accommodate up to 60 students per session, we typically serve between 30 - 40 at a time. During school holidays, we offer vacation care with long day sessions, featuring excursions and incursions designed around student interests. Our dedicated team maintain strong connections with Lucas Primary School, making transitions to and from the program seamless for students.

Selection Criteria
SC1 Demonstrated capacity to manage the work of other staff, showcasing strong administration skills, and developing procedures and guidelines related to an OSHC program.
SC2 Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills with children, families, staff, school council and the wider community.
SC3 Demonstrated knowledge of program planning, implementation and evaluation, which allows for differences in children's abilities and needs, including those with additional needs.
SC4 Demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to the National Quality Framework, including the Approved Learning Framework (My Time, Our Place), National Quality Standards rating system and Education and Care Services Laws/Regulations.
SC5 Demonstrated knowledge and skills in the use of computers and OSHC management system software.
Minimum Qualifications
Diploma in Community Services (Children's Services), studying to be a teacher or a qualification as listed by ACECQA on the Approved Qualifications for Educators Working with over Preschool Aged Children list. Current First Aid and CPR, current asthma management and anaphylaxis training, Safe Food Handling Level 1 and Working with Children's Check.
Role
To support the coordination of the Outside School Hours Care Program. Perform and/or supervise tasks that are carried out in accordance with guidelines, accepted practices, and service policies. This may include the supervision and coordination of other education support class staff within the work area or educational program. Supervision and coordination would include ensuring routine tasks are performed to required standards. Input into identifying training needs and development of education support class staff within the work area. The Assistant Coordinator is responsible for supporting the coordinator to maintain the quality of care, ensuring it is of a high standard. The Assistant Coordinator will support the Coordinator to ensure the service complies with the Education and Care Services Laws/Regulations and National Quality Framework for OSHC and the relevant service policies and procedures. The Assistant Coordinator supports program planning to ensure the educational and recreational programs offered are undertaken in a safe, stimulating, and supportive environment for all children attending the program. The Assistant Coordinator will be allocated a nominated amount of time to work on administration tasks throughout the week.
Responsibilities

Attendance required for this position: Monday to Friday (morning session 6.00am to 9.30am) and (afternoon session 2.30pm to 6.45pm).
Support the coordination of day-to-day operations of the OSHC program which involves supervision, direction, and support of staff in the program.
Be responsible for menu development, food orders and kitchen preparation and cleanliness.
Direct OSHC staff about daily duties.
Ensure Lucas LEAP resources are audited and maintained on a regular basis to align with program activities.
Manage the Lucas LEAP environment to ensure it remains clean and orderly.
Support the day-to-day use of the Xplor program to assist with management of program bookings.
Support the coordination of the day-to-day program for before school, after school, vacation program and student free days. This will include taking on coordinator responsibility in their absence.
Supporting the Coordinator to plan according to NQF guidelines.
Assist with the development of quality Improvement plans and policies.
Liaise with staff, parents, and children to assist with the development of a program of interesting and stimulating activities and events for primary school aged children.
Promote an environment where children, staff and parents feel comfortable and welcome.
Support the Coordinator to ensure observations and reflections are being conducted frequently and utilised for planning purposes.
Assist with the induction process for new staff.
Maintain confidentiality of all staff and families in the program.
Ensure the program maintains its commitment to providing a child safe environment.
Work alongside the program administration manager, families and external agencies to develop, implement and maintain students medical and inclusion support plans.
