About the Role The Operations Manager is responsible for the management and oversight of frontline operational event health services across Queensland, ensuring the strategic business outcomes are delivered, KPI's are met, and high quality, health services are delivered to the Queensland community. This position is pivotal in ensuring that all strategic and clinical processes are operationalised throughout the state of Queensland which includes but is not limited to coordination of each Hub's operational delivery, fleet coordination, building management, and management of casual staff for the State. You bring a "can do" attitude and believe no task is beneath you within your team. We operate as an "all in, one for all" team.
Key Responsibilities Manage and provide direction to each direct report. This includes stepping into each role if required. Have an understanding about the casual workforce parameters, fair work and volunteer management. Manage all casual staff within EHS, that includes but is not limited to onboarding coordination, annual performance reviews, performance manage as required, and job allocation. Overseeing and delivering the daily operations within each hub (Hub Operations Officers), fleet & building management, and any ad hoc duties as required by the General Manager Health Services. Coordination and delivery of events/duties across the state and within each Hub. High level of engagement with external clients. Implement appropriate systems of management and governance to deliver expected outcomes, with emphasis on ensuring compliance with statutory and other regulatory obligations in the provision of event health services. Develop and implement effective management systems to monitor the service and performance of the department. This includes, but is not limited to: accurate forecasting of business and service planning and demand management activities; and implementation of business innovation and improvements across the operational systems group to improve day to day critical care outcomes and service delivery in Queensland. Implement strategies and other initiatives aimed at ensuring the best utilisation of human and financial resources, in the achievement of strategic and operational objectives and organisation priorities. Build and sustain productive and collaborative working relationships at all levels across relevant stakeholder groups both internal and external to SJAQ, including other St John Ambulance jurisdictions. Coordinate the EHS SJAQ fleet across each Hub. Engage with other SJAQ departments to utilise fleet as required. Oversee the logistics and warehouse management at Nundah HQ and each Hub location. Assist SJAQ Corporate Services with building management for each Hub across the State. Provide assistance to Project Manager (Operations) situations as required and approved by General Manager Health Services. Attending events regularly throughout the year in an operational capability and First Responder (or above according to qualifications) capacity. Be available in a flexible nature for events especially major events SJAQ is involved in. Be prepared to attend events as required to ensure these delivered to a high standard. About You (Skills and Experience) Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed. Passion for volunteerism and community engagement. Diploma or higher qualification in Operations Management, Healthcare or Business Administration, Volunteer management, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is desirable. Proven experience operations within a healthcare setting desirable. Experience working with volunteer management software and databases. Proven experience leading a team (volunteer team desirable). Demonstrated leadership and management expertise in a health care or emergency services environment, ensuring the provision of high-quality pre-hospital patient care services to the community. Proven success in leading and implementing organisational change and service system reform to ensure the service delivery systems are increasingly responsive to the needs of patients and stakeholders. Demonstrated highly developed communication, negotiation, consultation, and collaboration skills with the proven ability to advocate persuasively to achieve desired outcomes and build and maintain productive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. Superior conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, including a demonstrated ability to interpret financial and trend/output/outcome performance data to drive performance improvement. Proven capabilities and experience in strategic planning and the provision of policy advice, in particular, the ability to contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, standards and service improvement initiatives. St John Ambulance experience highly desirable. Hold a current Blue Card – Working with Children (or ability to obtain one). Hold a current Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain one). Hold a current Queensland Class C Driver Licence or higher required. Current PAFA course + Pain Management Course (or above, in-line with SJAQ roles and descriptors policies).
