Tamworth Hospital is seeking a Theatre Operating Assistant (OA) to join our dynamic operating theatre department. We welcome both skilled and unskilled applicants, as on-the-job training will be provided. About us: Tamworth Hospital, one of the largest regional hospitals in New England, has recently undergone a major refurbishment, now offering state-of-the-art facilities. As a key Rural Referral Hospital, it provides essential healthcare services to the North-West region of NSW. In July 2015, the hospital unveiled a $220 million acute services redevelopment, featuring 348 treatment spaces. With five operating theatres, the hospital performs over 8,000 surgical procedures annually.
About the role: The Theatre Operating Assistant will provide essential non-clinical support to the Operating Theatre team, ensuring safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include assisting nursing staff across all areas of the Perioperative unit, maintaining a safe working environment, and adhering to proper manual handling techniques. The role requires strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Applicants must be available to work a 7-day rotating roster, including the flexibility to work on short notice. A proven ability to work collaboratively as part of a team is essential.
How you will be supported: Support and orientation for the Theatre Operating Assistant role will be provided by the Operating Theatre Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) and Educators. Educational opportunities are available and actively encouraged to help staff develop their skills and advance in their careers.
