As the peak body for football in Queensland, we focus on: Uniting football in QueenslandMaking playing and administering football easier, creating efficienciesProviding quality and consistent products and services that deliver value for moneyImproving and streamlining governance and management of the gameEngaging with all members, stakeholders, partners, and governmentPrimary Purpose of Role The Officer – Referee Development (Northern Conference) will be responsible for the development of referees within the designated conference, with particular emphasis on ensuring a positive culture for all referees, continued education using both informal and formal mechanisms, and ongoing coaching across all levels.
This role will work closely with the Manager – Statewide Officiating to ensure that our Referee Strategy is being delivered across the regions within the conference.
The Officer – Referee Development (Northern Conference) will be responsible for the ongoing development of all match officials and match day coaches across the whole conference and will work closely with the Referee appointments team to ensure referees are getting the right opportunities.

Participant & Clubs Support referees, clubs & volunteers as football's frontline.Develop a deep understanding of our customers and improve and communicate our value proposition accordingly.Support in growing the referee cohort and bringing more women & girls into refereeing.Unifying Football Work with all stakeholders of the game to ensure a consistent One Football approach.Support with the development and implementation to expand our technology systems to streamline our operations.Key Areas of Responsibility The Officer – Referee Development (Northern Conference) will be required to:
Develop and deliver a training plan for all referees within the regionLead the implementation of the FQ Referee Strategy within the conferenceDeliver Referee Courses throughout the conferenceConduct referee assessments and develop tailored training and development plans for refereesDeliver fortnightly theory training sessions with all referees across the conferenceDeliver Football Queensland's Referee Schools program across the conferenceImplement Football Queensland's recruitment and retention strategiesDeliver referee social and networking eventsSupport the implementation of Football Queensland's referee pathway statewide and work with match officials to progress through that pathwayCreate a pool of talented referee coaches to support the growth of all match officialsImplement the MiniRefs program across the whole conference and gain club buy-inDevelop strong relationships with Football Queensland affiliated clubs within the conferenceAttend all club meetingsKey Selection Criteria The following skills and qualifications are preferred:
Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience in Sports ManagementRelevant qualifications & experience in football officiatingAn understanding of Football in QLD, the governance model, and regionsAn understanding of officiating in QLD and AustraliaDemonstrated experience in developing strategies to increase participation and retention ratesDemonstrated ability to prioritise work and manage several tasks simultaneously both independently and in a team-oriented collaborative environmentMaturity and experience in dealing with stakeholders of the gameDemonstrated administrative and organisational skills, including oral and written communication skills and personal presentationAbility to use Microsoft Office 365 and Dynamics (incl.
Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)
and social media platforms.Must have a blue card (working with children) or be willing to get oneAble to initiate new relationships, build rapport quickly and have the knowledge of dealing with professional administrators and importantly, referees & volunteersExcellent presentation and communication skills including phone, face to face, email, video call, and direct messaging servicesAttention to detail and accuracyDriver's LicenceThe following skills and qualifications are desirable:
