BMS Strata Systems is seeking a full-time Occupational Health and Safety Manager.
This position will be primarily based at the Mackay office, but will require travel and work at various sites within the Bowen Basin, QLD.
This pivotal role will be on a 5/2 roster, allowing you to be home every weekend.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing safety compliance systems, making regular updates to senior management, managing the Return to Work process for employees, facilitating risk assessments and safety investigations, and overseeing Workers Compensation in consultation with Human Resources and management.
Additionally, you will monitor incident reporting and support investigations to ensure accurate and timely outcomes.
You will also serve as a mentor to our site-based Health and Safety Officer, guiding and supporting their professional development.
About You To qualify for this role, you must hold a Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety (or equivalent) along with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the Coal Mining / Civil Industry.
Additionally, you also require:
Understanding of Risk Management principles holding the RIIRIS402 (G2) qualification – DesirableEstablish and Maintain the WHS Management Systems (RIIWHS601E - G7) - DesirableThorough understanding of WHS Act and Standards, including development and implementation of WHS management systems, policies and procedures.BSBWHS515 Lead Initial Response to and Investigate WHS Incidents, RIIWHS301E Conduct Safety and Health Investigations (ICAM Lead Course) – Highly advantageousKnowledge of Workers Compensation legislation and process.Standard 11 Certificate (Surface and underground)"C" class Queensland Drivers LicenceCompetence in computer use with working knowledge of Microsoft Office SuiteWe highly value the following skills and background:
