The Patient Flow and Access Services at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Nurse Manager to join their team on a Permanent basis.

The Nurse Manager is an employee who is a registered nurse who:
Provides 24-hour, 7-day week hospital-wide coordination of support services and nursing leadership in proactively managing and coordinating clinical practice, patient/client flow and the provision of human, financial and material resources in accordance with organisational goals.Has key responsibilities for proactively managing patient access and flow, staffing replacement and bed capacity management across the Hospital and Health Service.Ensures a cost-effective nursing service focused on providing exceptional, evidence-based patient care at the Mackay Base Hospital. About the Team
The Patient Flow & Access Services comprises of Nurse Managers working across a 24/7 roster, NUM / ANUM (Nurse Bank and Casual Pool) and administration staff.
The Patient Flow & Access Services Nurse Managers provide centralised coordination and allocation of patient movements through a consistent approach to patient flow from admission to discharge by promoting safe, timely, clinical and culturally appropriate care to patients and their families.
The team undertakes the following functions of bed management and allocation, after hours hospital management and managing the daily fluctuations in demand capacity through the opening and closing of beds.
The Patient Flow & Access Services also functions as a nursing resource unit.
It reviews and monitors staff shortages due to unplanned absenteeism and provides nursing support where possible.
They do this by allocating human resources effectively.
During hours, this role is undertaken by the Nurse Bank and Casual Pool NUM / ANUM.
