Non-Executive Director & Company SecretaryNon-Executive Director & Company Secretary (voluntary position) RSPCA Tasmania is a well-known and highly loved organisation that has been a voice for Tasmanian animals for more than 140 years. Founded in 1878, RSPCA Tasmania's mission is to prevent cruelty to animals by actively promoting their care and protection. The organisation is governed by a dedicated Board of Directors, which is now seeking to appoint a new Director to strengthen their team and perform the role of Company Secretary.
It is an exciting time to join the Board, with the animal welfare sector undergoing significant change in Tasmania and nationally. The Board invites interest from Tasmanian residents who are keen to contribute to RSPCA Tasmania's journey into the next 100 years and beyond.

Company Secretary duties and responsibilitiesCandidates should possess an understanding of governance processes and director responsibilities, ideally within a not-for-profit environment. Previous experience as a director or reporting to a board is preferred but not essential.
We seek a candidate with a heart and passion for improving animal welfare outcomes in Tasmania. The Board fosters a culture of inclusion, valuing individual strengths, perspectives, and experiences. It is committed to respecting diversity, which enriches decision-making to deliver better outcomes for the community and our animals. Candidates who share that commitment and/or identify with typically under-represented groups within the community are particularly welcome.
The director in the role of Company Secretary will be appointed to a three-year term, and the position is voluntary. While there is no remuneration for our Board of Directors, reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
Board meetings are held outside business hours, on the fourth Tuesday of every second month, and generally last for three hours. In addition, committees meet either monthly or bi-monthly.
