Community Development (Community Services & Development)Contract/TempRSL Victoria - The Returned & Services League, Victorian Branch is the largest and oldest veteran charity in the state. We provide programs, services and initiatives to help improve the lives of veterans and their families, raise funds to support services through our appeals, lead commemoration of service, overarching leadership to our network of 270+ Sub-Branches and represent approximately 200,000 members on veteran related issues.At RSL Victoria, we're people with a purpose and our approach is centred on our values of respect, transparency, integrity, mateship, tradition, compassion, and empathy. Our dedicated workforce made up of employees and volunteers help contribute to our mission to provide the best possible support and services to all generations of veterans in Victoria.About the roleWe have a rewarding and exciting opportunity to join the team as a Military Compensation Advocate. In this role you will assist serving and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) with compensation support and advocacy. You will be accountable for a broad range of activities from client assessment and liaison, claims documentation and administration, and engagement with internal and external stakeholders. You will be the point of contact for veterans' compensation and entitlement dealings and will have an allocated caseload, so you will need to manage client expectations, work to tight deadlines, and handle often distressing or confronting subject matter.This is a fixed term 6-month contract role working Monday to Friday, based at our head office at ANZAC House, Melbourne with hybrid working arrangements. It is envisaged the role will commence in January 2025.About you - what sets you apart from the rest?You will have experience in a community services environment in a similar support role. You will uphold the values of RSL Victoria and relish being part of an organization that encourages collaboration, sharing of ideas, and continuous improvement, and have empathy with and a desire to support veterans and their families.Other essentials for the role:Experience with veterans and/or knowledge of issues facing the veteran community.Sound use of Microsoft technologies (Office 365) and experience with a CRM.We are eager to train the successful applicant to help build on existing skills. Applicants with relevant background or qualifications in law or workers' compensation are strongly encouraged.
