Exciting Permanent Full-Time role located in Coopers Plains.
You will contribute to the development and delivery of methods for detection and epidemiological typing using a range of molecular and bioinformatics analysis tools on notifiable pathogens and other organisms of public health significance, working within a NATA (ISO17025 and ISO 15189) quality systems certified organisation.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:
Knowledge and skills in the provision of contemporary public health microbiological/virological testing, particularly as this applies to molecular epidemiology including genomics for notifiable and emerging bacterial and viral pathogens.Knowledge and skills in genomic and metagenomic methods for application to microbial detection and typing.Demonstrated oral and written communication skills for contributing to laboratory specific documents including research reports, databases, emailing staff and clients and working with LIMS.Demonstrated ability to contribute to a laboratory service that is compliant with NATA/NPAAC/ISO/IEC17025/15189 quality accreditation, standard methods and relevant regulatory guidelines and professional standards.About Queensland Public Health and Scientific Services (QPHaSS)Under the leadership of the Deputy Director General, QPHaSS brings together the medical specialties of pathology and forensic medicine, scientific testing, key system support functions and the surveillance, prevention and control of communicable diseases and public health risks in Queensland.
