What you'll be doing

In this role, you will review and analyse information on cancer notifications, translating the information into specific codes in accordance with the Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICDO) and the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) guidelines.
You will be entering data into the Cancer Registry Information System to support the maintenance of accurate and dependable data for the purposes of cancer reporting and research.
Demonstrated experience in a population-based cancer registry and competency in and an understanding of a large volume database Extensive understanding of ICDO3 coding and principles Experience and or familiarity with the coding of oncology treatment and surgical data Demonstrated experience and understanding of medical terminology including gross anatomy, histological and pathological terms Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated, relevant, equivalent professional experience and training Demonstrated experience dealing with confidential and sensitive patient information.
Experience in coding ABS cancer related death certificates, with an extensive understanding of IARC and non IARC coding and principles and teaching new staff ICDO3 cancer registry coding
