Varying engagements depending on your situation - read on Central Canberra location, hybrid arrangement Government experience not essential The Role: As a Media Manager, you will be joining a busy branch, leading a team of media and public affairs professionals.
You will respond to media enquiries and plan for major announcements and activities – a mix of reactive and proactive media activities.
A large part of this role is to work with stakeholders and form genuine relationships with members across the Department to support ongoing needs and quick turnaround timeframes.
This position involves both hands-on and leadership tasks, and you must be willing to 'jump on the tools' – this is not an exclusive management position.
For existing permanent EL1's in the APS, a permanent transfer is open for discussion.
For existing permanent APS6's, you must have demonstrated acting EL1 experience to be considered.
Private sector applicants with strong media experience are welcomed and encouraged to apply.
It's important to note that rostered after-hours work, including weekends, is required.
Allowances and overtime rates apply and will be paid accordingly.
Role Responsibilities: Field incoming media enquiries and work with key staff to develop appropriate responses, including arranging media interviews.
Prepare media alerts and media releases as required.
Provide material to the media as required, including photographs, film, and background information.
Manage visiting media onsite, including documentary crews.
Monitor and report on media coverage.
