Mechanic Heavy Vehicles
Duties and responsibilities:
• Maintain, test and repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of heavy commercial vehicles, such as transmissions, suspension, steering mechanisms and brakes
• Carry out scheduled maintenance, which includes changing the oil and filter, tuning the engine, lubricating mechanical parts, testing the engine, hydraulics, power train, brakes, and electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with pollution regulations.
• Perform Preventive Maintenance Checks, Assembly, and Dismantling (Overhauling) of Major Components like Engines, Hydraulic pumps, transmissions, final Drives, etc.
• Address breakdown issues and solve them by following diagnostic procedures as per the repair manual.
• Test/charge, replace or jump-start batteries.
• Diagnose and test parts with the assistance of computers.
• Conduct thorough tests after being repaired for optimum performance.
• Repair and replace worn and defective parts, reassemble engine and mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed.
• Ensure proper usage and maintenance of various measuring equipment, hand tools and special tools in the workshop.
• Update and highlight all major and repeated failures to the Workshop Manager/ Service Supervisor.
Qualification & Licences:
• Trade qualification as CERT III Diesel Mechanic or above is essential.
• Forklift Licence and Safe Working at Heights (Desirable)
• Current driver's licence (Desirable)
Skills:
• Have a strong adherence WHSE and in keeping a safe workplace
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as required
Experience:
• Experience as a diesel mechanic is essential.
Experience speaking with customers and resolving concerns or issues would be highly regarded.


Nominal Salary: To be agreed
