About the role Mater Groups Finance team is looking for an Assistant Accountant to join the team from 13 January 2025 to 31 May 2025! Reporting directly to the Financial Accounting Supervisor, the Assistant Accountant is a process-specific role responsible for assisting in the end-to-end financial reporting function for the assigned portfolio.
Salary range: $85,878 - $94,618 (MCA 4) per annum plus 11.5% superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you'll be doing Bank reconciliations where applicable on a daily basis Assisting with the month end close process Raising GL journals as appropriate with sufficient supporting documentation to evidence entry reasons in line with processes, procedures and principles Ensuring transactions entered into GL follow the Group accounting policies and procedures Assisting with preparing monthly and quarterly balance sheet and P&L general ledger reconciliations and other information required for statutory reporting note disclosures for assigned entities Applying skilled knowledge including the understanding of concepts, processes, procedures and principles, to follow up and resolve variances in reconciliations Undertaking intercompany accounting processes Assisting with the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual statutory financial reports Assisting with the preparation of funding acquittals in accordance with the timetable Supporting the external audit process About you We are looking for a candidate who possesses the following qualifications and skills:
Relevant qualification (Economics, Business, Accounting) and/or equivalent experience will also be considered Ideally 2+ years' experience in a financial accounting position or similar Health specific or large/complex sector background is advantageous Excellent communication skills are essential for this role Possess high attention to detail with the ability to identify and rectify any discrepancies or errors in a timely manner Demonstrated ability to work with a wide variety of people and support a culture of continuous improvement Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritise workloads Why join us?
