Manufacturing Manager - Medicinal Cannabis Founded in Australia in 2016 and is an owned subsidiary of the Medcan Group, Medcan Australia was one of Australia's first licensed cannabis cultivation companies. Due to robust business practices, dedicated staff and a strong commitment to improving patient health outcomes, Medcan is positioned as a leading player in the pharmaceutical sector focusing on innovation, efficiency, and excellent service delivery. Due to growth, Medcan has available a Manufacturing Manager that will lead the post production staff at our location in Heathwood, Brisbane.
The Manufacturing Manager is positioned within the company's leadership team and is responsible for leading the post production team, from drying, trimming, packing and product release. The role needs to work within a strict quality assurance and control structure, working collaboratively with the QA and cultivation team. The role reports into the Facility and Production Manager.
Role Overview: Manage post-harvest production process from drying to end, product packaging and release, monitor production rates and standards, comply with quality control, liaise with QA to ensure practices meet QA standards, adjust practices when required and instructed. Procuring post-harvest equipment and assigning responsibility of maintenance and functionality and maintain a safe and hygienic work area for both commercial practices, QA standards and employee safety and wellbeing. Overseeing packaging of product in accordance with quality and assurance standards and production plan and ensure products are produced and stored correctly. Recruit, train and retain post-harvest employees. Engage in workforce planning to ensure the workforce is able to meet company post-harvest production objectives and targets. Ensure employees engaged, are trained in their roles and have support to develop additional skills to meet post-harvest tasks. Role Success: Meet post-harvest production deadlines and targets. Meet post-harvest quality and compliance standards. Meet company culture standards and maintain an engaged and productive workforce. Participate in professional development and work collaboratively with others. Selection Criteria: A minimum of 2 years' experience as a production manager within the Food, Pharmaceuticals, agricultural industry; cannabis production experience is highly desirable. A minimum of 1 year's experience in GMP regulatory industry or other regulatory frameworks. A minimum of 2 years' experience managing and leading highly productive production teams. Proven knowledge of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and standard operational procedures (SOPs). Proven knowledge of batch booklets and associated production documentation and associated QA practices. Proven ability to engage and positively lead a team in the context of manufacturing and production. Possess analytical skills that can see an issue and proactively solve the issue, able to make informed decisions, possess strong communication skills and software skills (Microsoft Office and Excel).
