Manager – Mining and Automotive Industry Training Council$145,000 – $165,000 per year + superannuationAchieve meaningful outcomes for WA's mining and automotive sectorsOpportunity to work within a collaborative and supportive team environmentCBD-based with flexible working arrangementsThe Chamber of Minerals and Energy of WA (CME) is seeking a strategic and forward-thinking individual to join the team as a Manager – Mining and Automotive Industry Training Council.In line with the strategic aims of The Chamber of Minerals and Energy of Western Australia (CME), this position is primarily responsible for the management of the Mining and Automotive Industry Training Council (the training council). The training council is part of a network of industry advisory bodies funded by the Department of Training and Workforce Development to provide strategic, forward-looking training advice to the Western Australian State Training Board and State Government.One of the main functions of the training council, covering sectors such as resources, infrastructure, automotive manufacturing, and automotive service and repair, is to work with industry stakeholders, training providers, and the government to develop and implement innovative solutions to address skill shortages and changing workforce needs.This position offers you a unique opportunity to meaningfully and strategically shape the future of training and workforce needs within the most vital sectors that support WA's economy. You will collaborate with some of the most experienced professionals across industry, government agencies, training partners, and the State Training Board of WA, and advocate on behalf of industry at a state and national level.The opportunity is on a full-time, 5-year fixed-term contract, with the possibility of the contract being extended.About the roleAdvocate with relevant Government agencies, the State Training Board of Western Australia, and skills organisations at the national level on behalf of industries covered by the training council.Build and maintain productive long-term relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including industry contacts, national skills bodies, relevant industry organisations and employee organisations and their staff.Provide an avenue for understanding, awareness, and education of skills-related issues impacting operations and work within industries and develop strategies with other impacted stakeholders to mitigate the effects.Identify, conduct and supervise research and analysis into workforce development and skills issues and provide information to relevant internal and external stakeholders.Provide professional advice and identify and recommend specific workforce development policies and strategies.Respond to specific requests for workforce development and skills issues from the State Training Board, Department of Training and Workforce Development, and Government as required.Manage the CME Skills and Training Reference Group as a forum for information sharing and discussion on workforce, skills, and training-related issues and obtaining CME member feedback on related matters.Provide subject matter expert advice to the CME policy team to support the development of relevant CME submissions and policy positions.Prepare reports and submissions and manage Service Agreement reporting obligations.About youA minimum of 5 years of relevant post-graduate experience, in an area relevant to the portfolio.Tertiary qualification in a related field.Current working knowledge and experience relevant to the Western Australian resources sector and other relevant industries.Detailed understanding of state and federal government policy development processes.Excellent written and verbal communication and consultation skills for gathering information from key stakeholders and providing advice to relevant bodies/organisations.Research and report writing skills, including the ability to synthesize information and data and present it in a logical and organized way.Networking skills to assist in raising the profile of industry issues amongst key stakeholders.Valid WA driver's license.Commitment to CME core values of Accountable, Engaged, Inclusive, Integrity, and Respect.Why work for CMEAt CME our people are important to us.
