About the role
As the Manager of Grid Performance and Integration, you'll use your power system engineering expertise to investigate incidents and reduce risks. You'll support energy transition projects like Project Energy Connect and Marinus Link and oversee AEMO's General Power System Risk Review (GPSRR). This role involves presenting key findings to senior leaders, industry bodies, and AEMO's board of directors.
What you will be doing
Provide overall strategic and technical leadership to deliver a major publication for the NEM, encompassing a 5 year ahead review of Priority Risks through development of the General Power System Risk Review
Lead the team to undertake detailed review of major power system events, including root-cause analysis, engagement with stakeholders, and sharing findings and recommendations with industry
Assess the impact of non credible contingencies and high impact low probability events on the power system,.
Enable the commissioning of new major transmission interconnections, including the development and coordination of test plans for this
Ensure a strong and sustainable team through development of staff, succession planning and timeous recruitment activities, including mentoring and coaching activities.
Support the Group Manager, Modelling and Engineering, as required
What you will bring to the role
Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Engineering, Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Demonstrated experience leading a professional team with strong internal and external stakeholder engagement skills.
Expertise in power systems, including analysis, modelling, operations, risk assessment, commissioning, and testing.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex engineering concepts clearly and manage competing priorities with a high degree of independence.
Ability to navigate ambiguity and reconcile conflicting perspectives to achieve excellent outcomes.
