Reporting to the General Manager Corporate & Community, and assisted by a small team, the key purpose of the role is to enhance Council's corporate governance, legal, risk management and corporate communications, ensuring good governance principles are applied and legislative compliance requirements met. The successful candidate will provide high quality service and advice to Council at all levels regarding governance, policies and registers, legislative compliance, delegations, public integrity, risk management, Work Health and Safety and community engagement. Relevant qualifications and/or equivalent level experience in governance, risk management and/or Work Health and Safety along with demonstrated experience in leading a team is essential. Local Government experience although desirable is not essential. A dynamic and technically sound candidate is sought with exceptional verbal and written communication skills in all settings with internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, proven problem solving skills, the ability to identify alternative solutions and make sound, logical and cost effective decisions will be critical to success.
