About the role: The Manager, Emergency Management System Planning & Consequence Management is responsible for leading a multidisciplinary team and is accountable for developing and implementing health emergency management doctrine (plans, standards, guidelines) and emergency management intelligence, hazard and risk, and consequence management systems. This position requires a flexible and solution focused approach with the ability to balance competing demands and to plan for and deliver specific outcomes within clearly defined time and resource constraints.
This role will undertake Emergency Operations functions including the role of Department of Health Deputy Commander on a rostered and on call basis. This role will also contribute to the 24-hour, 7-day-a-week preparedness and operations of state-wide emergency response activities in line with departmental guidelines. During emergencies this may involve a range of tasks including the development of plans and reports, managing incoming and outgoing information, delivering briefings, coordinating the assignment of tasks, liaising with regional colleagues and external stakeholders and representing the department in other emergency operations centres.

How you'll make a difference: Lead the preparation of reports and briefings to support senior management and Ministers, including those relating to Parliament, Cabinet, and emergency management sector committees.Lead a multidisciplinary team including emergency management professionals to ensure the delivery of accountabilities and responsibilities.Lead the development and implementation of the department's doctrine and plans across the Emergency Management phases and facilitating the achievement of the department's legislative obligations and responsibilities for emergency management.Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of intelligence, hazard and risk systems and consequence management functions to inform emergency management strategies, policies and doctrine and to support decision making before, during and after emergencies.Ensure the department meets its statutory emergency management planning and consequence management responsibilities under the Emergency Management Act 2013 and integrate relevant sector reform.Raise awareness and understanding of related intelligence products, arrangements and tools to build capability across the department.Support the Emergency Management branch to prioritise readiness work towards the hazards and risks most likely to require a response.Lead the ongoing research and understanding of all hazards and risks in Victoria, to ensure that readiness activities.Partner with other Divisions and the Emergency Management Branch to support the development and delivery of a range of emergency management doctrine, plans and standard operating procedures to enable the department to fulfil its emergency management responsibilities.To learn more please click 'Apply' to view the Position Description on the Careers.vic website.
