Manager Coastal Pilotage and Vessel Traffic Services $191,022 + 15.4% super
Location: Queensland, other locations may be considered
WFH and Office
Ongoing - Full Time

ABOUT THE ROLE The Manager Coastal Pilotage and Vessel Traffic Services (CP&VTS) is responsible for leading and managing a team of dedicated professionals in the implementation and administration of policy, standards and associated legislation relating to AMSA's regulatory responsibilities for coastal pilotage and authorised vessel traffic services in Australia. This role requires energy, commitment, initiative, teamwork, multi skilling and time management skills. Some after hours and weekend work may be required.
You will be responsible for:
Team leadership: Lead and manage a professional team dedicated to Coastal Pilotage and Vessel traffic services compliance whilst fostering a continuous improvement culture.
Compliance: Ensure compliance with Marine Order 54 and Marine Order 64.
Policy implementation: Establish and enforce Coastal Pilotage and Vessel Traffic Services Standards and procedures.
Stakeholder engagement: Oversee relationships with key internal and external stakeholders including Vessel Traffic Service providers, pilotage service providers, pilots and industry bodies.
Risk Management: Assess hazards and controls to risks associated with safe navigation through the compulsory pilotage areas and consider additional risk mitigation strategies.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE We are looking for someone with significant experience (preferably at least 3 years in a leadership role) in Marine pilotage.
Education:
Bachelor's degree or Advance Diploma in Applied Science (Nautical Science) or equivalent experience.
Desirable skills/experience for this role includes:
Master Certificate of Competency (or equivalent combination of commercial maritime certificate level, training, and experience).
Experience in navigating in the Great Barrier Reef and Torres Strait.
Experience in Marine Pilotage (experience as a check pilot is preferable).
Experience in the use or application of under keel management systems.
Thorough knowledge of vessel traffic services and the Australian legislative framework for VTS.
Experience implementing policy.
Experience in regulatory decision making.
