This role encompasses a wide portfolio, including statutory planning, building services, planning enforcement, and the City Planning Support team. You will be responsible for leading the department's diverse functions, ensuring a high level of service delivery and regulatory compliance.In this leadership role, you will focus on driving continuous improvement across all areas of responsibility. You will proactively assess and enhance processes, adopting best practices and modern methodologies to ensure the team is responsive to the evolving needs of the community. This includes ensuring efficiency in planning application processes, improving decision-making outcomes, and enhancing the quality of services provided.A key aspect of your role will be to foster a culture of collaboration and accountability within the team, mentoring staff and encouraging professional growth. You will work closely with other departments, key stakeholders, and the broader community to ensure that all planning and regulatory functions align with the City's strategic objectives. Furthermore, you will provide high-level strategic advice to the Executive Leadership Team and Councillors, addressing planning challenges and offering innovative solutions that drive positive outcomes for the Monash community.About the Successful ApplicantThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience in statutory planning or regulatory/building services, with proven leadership skills to guide a high-performing team. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to provide innovative solutions to complex planning challenges.
