The Westpac Business Controls and Monitoring Team is responsible for risk management and monitoring including the implementation and adherence to the risk management framework, policies and controls across the Line of Business. As a team member of the BC&M team, the Manager plays a key role in supporting the Merchants Village within the Cash & Transactional Banking Line of Business (LoB) on all matters risk and control whilst supporting implementation of solutions to risks.

Westpac has an immediate opportunity for a Business Controls and Monitoring Manager to join this team of risk professionals. In this role, you will contribute to ensuring the Merchants Village risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, risk strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the LoB, Division and Group. As a trusted risk adviser, you will successfully stay abreast of changes to policy requirements/guidance and support the Village with understanding and embedding rolling out these changes. In addition, you will take a lead role by supporting the Senior Managers to provide risk expertise in navigating incident and issue rectification, remediation, and regulatory updates for the Merchants Village, including:
Lead incident verification and root cause analysis activities within required SLAsFacilitate effective collation of information to support compliance assessment within required timeframesSupport regulatory notices, ensuring factual accuracy of information summarising the breach, root cause, rectification, and remediation activities within required reporting timeframesEnhance issues and incident management practicesMonitor and track sustainable rectification and remediationEnsure impact to the Value Chain risk profile as a result of incidents and guarantee issues are appropriately considered and updatedProvide controls expertise to assist with identification, uplift or building of controls within the Village and testing the design and operating effectiveness of those controlsSupport the Senior Managers with providing effective risk and control expertise for change initiatives and coach and support the Merchants Village to build greater risk awareness, culture and maturity What's in it for me?

To be successful in this role, you will need a solid foundation built on 3-4 years of experience in financial services and/or risk management, complemented by relevant industry qualifications that, while desirable, are not essential. Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are crucial, fostering an environment of shared success. Your proactive and organised approach will enable you to remain focused on outcomes while adapting to changing environments, ensuring that you effectively meet objectives. As an effective manager your customer-centric mindset and commercial acumen will further enhance your ability to deliver value, positioning your team to contribute positively to the organisation's goals.
