The Shire of East Pilbara is the largest Local Government area in Australia covering approximately 372,571 square kilometres of the Western Desert in the north of Western Australia and larger than the state of Victoria. Driving will take 2 days to cross from east to west and 6 hours from north to south. This drive will allow you to explore the best parts of the Pilbara which is rich in aboriginal culture and with an abundance of wildlife. Reporting through to the Director Corporate Services, the Management Accountant is responsible for management reporting and general ledger control and to ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with accounting standards, the Local Government Act 1995 and associated regulations. Maintain effective and co-operative communication within the organisation. Apply sound interpersonal skills to facilitate positive responses to key activities and procedures to achieve desired results. The role: Key responsibilities for this diverse role include: Supporting and promoting the "culture" and "values" of the Shire of East Pilbara evidenced through personal commitment, personal behaviour, language and the achievement of results; Contributing to employee and customer satisfaction, engagement and excellence; Leading, guiding and navigating the management of employees under supervision, whilst developing and mentoring key talent, within the scope of the level; Supporting good governance through the application of good decision making and consistency of application; Facilitating and encouraging teamwork to deliver projects and outcomes for and on behalf of the Shire; Providing appropriate advice to internal and external stakeholders whilst maintaining relationships and responsibility for operational oversight for assigned activities; Actively contributing towards the achievement of financial efficiencies and quality of service; Proactively report upon, and mitigate, organisational risks. About you: CA/CPA qualified or studying towards, with relevant tertiary qualifications, you will have a passion to continuously develop stakeholder experience by identifying areas for improvement. You will possess strong problem-solving with the ability to think creatively and find innovative solutions. Experience withing Local Government is required.
