Maintenance Manager to oversee our WA facilities and contribute to our ongoing success.
Role OverviewReporting directly to the GM Bulk Terminal, Assets and Int Ops, the Maintenance Manager will have the responsibility for the day-to-day management of Aurizon's WA maintenance teams. This includes sites in Forrestfield, Kwinana, Picton, Avon, Esperance, and Geraldton. You will lead a team in delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective locomotive, wagon and other equipment maintenance across the state, ensuring that our fleets perform well, and that we continue to support the growing Aurizon business.
As part of the senior leadership team in Aurizon's Bulk division, you will play a key role in setting the strategic direction for maintenance operations and will ensure that maintenance practices align with operational and business objectives.
Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a safe, effective, and engaged workforce to achieve top-tier safety performance.Oversee work programs aimed at maintaining and improving fleet and equipment reliability across WA.Manage and mentor a team of experienced leaders to deliver optimal maintenance outcomes.Role model customer service excellence in line with Aurizon's Values.Implement and manage maintenance plans, including major renewal and overhaul schedules.Manage the operating budget for WA and optimise the use of assets and resources.Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and collaboration across the region.Mitigate risks, ensure alignment with operational strategies, and maintain flexibility for future opportunities.Collaborate with the wider Aurizon business to develop and implement short, medium, and long-term strategies for the region.About You You are an experienced leader with a background in industrial or safety-critical environments, and you thrive in driving continuous improvement within a maintenance operation. Your leadership approach is positive, proactive, and focused on achieving high safety standards and maintenance excellence.
In addition, you will have:
Proven frontline leadership experience in an industrial or safety-critical context.A proactive, "can-do" attitude and a passion for making processes better every day.Trade and/or tertiary qualifications in an engineering field (highly preferred).Strong influencing and negotiation skills with diverse workgroups.Sound business acumen, strategic thinking, and business planning capabilities.Ability to analyse data and make informed decisions that drive business outcomes.A collaborative mindset and the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic and growing team at the forefront of the rail freight industry.
