Description Join our Team: Legal & Governance Counsel
At The Breakthrough Office, we support Not-for-Profit organisations by managing their end-to-end accounting, allowing them to focus on their core missions. We are seeking a highly skilled, client-facing Legal & Governance Counsel to join our team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to our NFP clients, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and to mitigate legal risks.
Responsibilities:
Provide legal advice and support to not-for-profit clients on a wide range of legal matters, including contracts, employment law, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents.
Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Advise on legal risks and potential liabilities.
Work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
Manage outside counsel, as necessary.
Qualifications:
Degree from an accredited law school.
Unrestricted practicing certificate in Victoria
Minimum of 5 years of experience as a practicing solicitor, with a focus on corporate law.
NFP experience is highly regarded
Strong knowledge of contract law, employment law, intellectual property law, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
