Junior Estimator (Fitouts)

Details of the offer

Why is this role for you? You've always enjoyed the estimating process. You've had a taste of it as a cadet or with a subbie and you see it as your future career.Being a manager in the future and leading a team gets you excited and it's what you are aiming for.In this junior role, you'd get 1-2-1 training from the manager who has been there 12 years and you'd get support from the team of 8 estimators around you.The team has been working there 3-8 years and they enjoy being together so much that they regularly spend time with each other on the weekends – you'd be made to feel welcome from day 1.Initially, you'd focus on retail fitout and refurb projects ranging from $100k - $5million, you'd go to site and regularly meet clients with whom they have great long-term relationships. You can WFH after your first year and you'd earn a yearly bonus based on your performance. Past employees have earned $20 - $30k pay rises based on how well they have done; if you are good at estimating, they will do whatever they can to make sure you stay.In time, you could be the manager of their small works division or even join their new build construction team who deliver jobs in the $20-$100 million range.Starting salary is in the $90-140k package range + a yearly bonus. If you are genuinely interested in estimating and consider yourself a competitive person who is ambitious and motivated, then this is a cracking role for you.
This sounds great! What skills do you want to see from me?You don't need to be the finished article to apply for this role. But there are 5 points that you'd need to tick to be considered. You've got 1-3 years of experience in estimating in Australia. This can be with a subbie or a head contractor. If you have experience as a contracts admin or supervisor in fitouts and you want a change to estimating, then we'd love to hear from you.You are a very confident communicator both on the phone and face to face. You'll need to visit sites on your own, so this is key.You are an analytical and process-led person. A clear structure is in place at this builder and if you like following steps and ticking things off, then this role will really suit you.Ideally, you've done first principal estimating and in-house measuring. You can drive and you can work in Crows Nest 5 days a week from 7.30-5.30pm.I'm intrigued, what's the next step? You don't need to send a CV at this stage.
