About the Role In collaboration with the Bundaberg Hospital Emergency Department, LifeFlight Retrieval Medicine is offering a unique 12-month fixed-term contract that combines the best of both worlds: working with the esteemed LifeFlight team and the dynamic Bundaberg Base Hospital Emergency Department (ED).
This position consists of a part-time role (0.50 FTE) with LifeFlight and a part-time role (0.50 FTE) with Bundaberg Hospital, offering the chance to gain experience in both aeromedical care and regional emergency medicine consultant work. You'll enjoy a supportive work environment with flexible roster patterns and accommodation assistance throughout your 12-month contract, commencing end of January 2025.
During the contract, you will have the opportunity to do the Diploma in Prehospital and Retrieval Medicine (DipPHRM) course. You'll be joining the busy mixed regional Bundaberg Hospital Emergency team in a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) role. Your responsibilities on top of SMO in ED will include joining the Trauma Portfolio team and will be tasked with organising a Multi-agency Mass Casualty Training Exercise. This is an ideal position for stepping up to Emergency consultant work whilst pursuing an interest in prehospital and retrieval medicine.
About You To join the Bundaberg LifeFlight and Emergency Department clinical teams you will need:
To hold registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia/Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) To hold a Fellowship of Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or a current Training Stage 4 (TS4) ACEM registrar who has completed the ACEM Written Fellowship Exam To have completed a minimum of six months experience at Training Registrar level in: Emergency medicine Anaesthesia Intensive care medicine, and Paediatric emergency medicine or paediatric anaesthesia or paediatric intensive care medicine or 12 months experience in mixed adult and paediatric critical care EFAST experience and hold an EFAST certification To be able to swim 10 meters unassisted and be comfortable in a pool depth of 2 meters for aviation training Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team To be eligible to work in Australia without restriction, or hold a working visa To be eligible and be granted an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) Retrieval Services Queensland (RSQ) support and approved scope of practice (RSQ credentialing) All applicants must have a legal right to work in Australia and comply with vaccination and reporting requirements.

Bundaberg Hospital Staff Specialist or Senior Medical Officer Remuneration: You will receive a competitive remuneration package based on (L13–L27) the Medical Officers Certified agreement (MOCA 6), including various allowances.
