What you'll be doing Carry out accurate and timely coding of complex inpatient separations from any or all of the hospitals of the Illawarra Shoalhaven LHD using the current edition of ICD-10-AM, ACHI and the Australian Coding Standards in order to provide data for research, planning and financial management. Remote working is also available to suitable applicants. Applicants will be required to undertake the coding of a sample of records and coding exercises at the conclusion of the interview. Selection Criteria Successful completion of a recognised clinical coding course applicable to the Australian inpatient setting. Demonstrated workplace experience and competence in inpatient coding using a recent edition of ICD-10-AM, ACHI and ACS. Demonstrated thorough understanding of the Australian Coding Standards, DRG assignment and the relationship between clinical coding and activity based funding. Demonstrated strong analytical skills Demonstrated ability to organise and prioritise workload, including ability to meet deadlines. Demonstrated excellent communication skills including spelling accuracy, good comprehension of the written word and confidence in the spoken word. Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team situation. Demonstrated computer literacy particularly in the use of 3M Codefinder, Patient Administration Systems and electronic medical record systems.
