About the RoleIn this full-time position based at the Camberwell Municipal Offices, you will consider and decide claims made against Council. These claims vary from damage caused by Council trees and trucks, to personal injury, water flow and professional liability. The position is part of the Risk and Assurance team in the Governance and Legal Department. This socially vibrant Department works closely together and also includes Governance, Legal, Procurement and Civic Events teams. The Department is committed to continuous learning and career development.
Key ResponsibilitiesAs an Insurance Officer, your primary role is processing claims made against Council. You will investigate into incidents, draft correspondence, and advocate for settlements in the best interest of the Council. You will also manage some Court claims assisting Council's insurer and their lawyers. Additionally, you will coordinate the discovery process for litigated claims and manage Freedom of Information requests.
Sitting in the Risk and Assurance team of Council's Governance and Legal Department, your role may also involve assisting:
crisis management coordination
maintaining Council's Business Continuity Plans
implementing and managing Council's Risk Management Framework and enterprise risk register
Council's insurance renewal program
fraud and corruption control in Council
